Running a Non-profit on Zoho: Maximising Value on a Tight Budget

How Australian NFPs can leverage Zoho's non-profit pricing and our credit model to get enterprise-grade tools without enterprise costs.

Non-profits face a specific challenge: they need the same operational tools as for-profit businesses, donor management, volunteer coordination, financial reporting, but with budgets that are a fraction of comparable organisations. Zoho's pricing model makes this workable.

Zoho offers a 15% discount for registered charities and non-profits on most products. Apply through Zoho's non-profit programme with your ACNC registration details. This applies to individual licenses and Zoho One.

Our credit-based pricing works well for NFPs because you buy credits when you have funding and use them as needed. A grant for 'technology improvement' can fund a credit top-up that covers CRM setup, volunteer management configuration, and three months of support, without an ongoing monthly consulting fee.

Prioritise by admin burden. For most NFPs, the highest-impact Zoho setup is: CRM for donor/member management (replaces the spreadsheet), Campaigns for donor communication (replaces Mailchimp), and Books for grant fund accounting (replaces the shoebox of receipts).

Volunteer management in Zoho People doesn't need the full HR suite. Configure just the modules you need: volunteer profiles, shift scheduling, hour logging, and credential tracking. Skip performance reviews and complex leave management unless your organisation has paid staff with those needs.

Board reporting is where NFPs gain the most time. An Analytics dashboard showing donor retention, volunteer hours, grant fund utilisation, and program outcomes, updated automatically, replaces the 2-day data compilation before each board meeting.
