Syncing Zoho Inventory with Shopify and WooCommerce: A Practical Guide

How to connect your Australian online store to Zoho Inventory for real-time stock sync, order import, and accounting integration.

Stock discrepancies between your online store and warehouse are the number one e-commerce operations headache. Zoho Inventory's native connectors for Shopify and WooCommerce keep stock levels in sync, but the setup needs attention to detail.

Start by cleaning your product catalogue. SKU codes must match exactly between your store and Zoho Inventory. Product names can differ, but SKUs are the matching key. We've seen integrations fail because one system had 'PROD-001' and the other had 'prod-001' (case sensitivity matters).

Configure the sync direction. Stock levels should flow from Inventory to your store (Inventory is the source of truth). Orders should flow from your store to Inventory (and then to Books for accounting). Don't sync both ways for stock, pick one source of truth.

Set sync frequency based on your sales velocity. High-volume stores need near-real-time sync (every 15 minutes). Lower-volume stores can sync hourly. During sales events, temporarily increase frequency to avoid overselling.

Handle variants correctly. A t-shirt with size and colour variants needs each combination as a separate item in Inventory with its own SKU. Map Shopify/WooCommerce variant SKUs to Inventory item SKUs. Parent-child product relationships don't sync automatically, you need flat SKU mapping.

Test the full cycle: create a product in Inventory, verify it appears in your store. Place a test order in your store, verify it creates a sales order in Inventory and reduces stock. Process a return, verify stock increases. Check that Books receives the accounting entries. Only go live after this full cycle works.
